Ferdowsi National Library
Ferdowsi National Library or as it is also called in Dushanbe Hall of Science, was opened in 1933, on the basis of the central library of Stalinobad (nowadays Dushanbe). In 1934 to commemorate the 1000 anniversary of Abulkasym Ferdowsi, the great classical author of Tajik literature, the library was named after him. Today more than 2.5 million books in different languages are stored in the funds of the library. The real treasure of the library is a collection of books the peoples of the Ancient East, 2 thousand manuscripts of ancient eastern philosophers and scientists - Rudaki, Ferdowsi, Ibn Sina, Saadi and others. The building of the library is decorated in traditional Tajik style, in combination with the elements of modern architecture.
