Sangin Mosque

One of the most interesting monuments of Hissar conservation area is Sangin domed mosque, dated back to the XII-XVI centuries. The name Sangin translates as stone. This is due to the fact that the walls of the mosque built of stone. Under the dome of the mosque are imbedded four ceramic jugs without bottom. Thus, it turned out original resonators, designed to improve the room`s acoustics

History

The first known mention of Dushanbe dates back to the XVII century. In the sources, it is called kasabai Dushanbe, which indicates its urban status. But as the numerous finds of archaeologists, ethnographers, historians made recently on the territory of modern Dushanbe show, the age of the city is much older.
